Deadline for 2026 programs:

To receive full consideration, proposals for programs in 2026 should be submitted by 29 September 2024.

Who can propose?

MIAPbP encourages scientists affiliated with a university or research institution to submit program proposals.

MIAPbP programs

  • feature current and exciting topics from astrophysics, cosmology, particle, bio- and nuclear physics or adjacent disciplines - interdisciplinary programs are very welcome, too!
  • organized by three to five coordinators (max. four external coordinators and not more than two from the local area).
  • last four weeks.
  • schedule consists of one, maybe two talks per day and leaves much time for informal discussions and actual work.
  • each coordinator is expected to spend at least half of the time in residence with the program (MIAPbP strongly encourages all proposers to stay at MIAPbP for the four weeks of their program).
  • proposal is submitted by the designated corresponding coordinator.

Submit a proposal - please prepare the following:

  1. Program title.
  2. A brief description of the prospective program: topics, motivation, goals and expected outcome, as well as timeliness. Please explain the background for a non-expert reader and specifics for specialists to provide the program committee with all relevant information for the selection (no more than three pages).
  3. A list of several (!) preferred dates for the program. Please consider potential timing conflicts with other conferences (national and international).
  4. Name and full contact details of the corresponding coordinator.
  5. A list of at least two and no more than four further coordinators, who agreed to coordinate the program, including the name of their institutions and e-mail addresses. The diversity among the organizing committee (gender, career stage, geography) is an important criterion in selecting the proposals. Mention the relevant areas of expertise of each co-organizer. If none of the coordinators is from a Munich/Garching institution, please specify who could be a local contact person and how you plan to involve the local scientists. Please contact the MIAPbP directors if you need help identifying a local contact person.
  6. List of key participants, who have already expressed interest in attending the program (for a minimum of two weeks). The participant list should contain a mix of established as well as promising junior scientists. Please consider gender balance, aiming for at least 20% female scientists, and put in special effort to approach participants from Asian, South American as well as African institutions.
  7. You may also decide to organize an additional short, two to three days, topical workshop within the four-week program. (Participation and registration for the workshop is separate from general program admission.) If already known, please indicate whether you plan to organize an additional workshop and specify the topic and title.
  8. Send your proposal as single pdf file to directors(at)munich-iapp.de
